Overview
- Commissioning covers Palwal–Mathura–Nagda on the Delhi–Mumbai corridor (633 km) and Howrah–Barddhaman on the Delhi–Howrah route (105 km), the Railways Minister told Parliament.
- Track-side implementation is underway on 15,512 route kilometres spanning the Golden Quadrilateral, its diagonals and other high-density routes.
- Supporting buildout includes 7,129 km of optical fibre laid, 1,650 telecom towers installed, 4,692 km of trackside equipment deployed and training for over 40,000 personnel.
- Indian Railways has equipped 4,154 locomotives to date and has invited bids to fit Kavach 4.0 on an additional 9,069 locomotives in phases.
- Cumulative spending reached Rs 2,354.36 crore through October 2025, with estimated costs of about Rs 50 lakh per km for track-side systems and Rs 80 lakh per locomotive.
