India Clears Kota-Bundi Airport, Odisha Capital Ring Road in ₹9,814-Crore Push

The Government of Rajasthan has transferred 440.06 hectares of land to AAI for the development of a Greenfield Airport, suitable for the operation of A-321 type aircraft.

Overview

  • The Airports Authority of India will build the Kota-Bundi greenfield facility for ₹1,507 crore using internal accruals, with 440.06 hectares already transferred by Rajasthan.
  • Designs specify a 20,000 sq m terminal for 1,000 peak‑hour passengers, a 3,200 m x 45 m runway and seven A321 bays, targeting completion in about 24 months.
  • The 110.875 km Capital Region Ring Road around BhubaneswarCuttack is sanctioned at ₹8,307.74 crore under Hybrid Annuity Mode with a 2.5‑year build period and 15‑year O&M.
  • The corridor is intended to divert heavy commercial traffic from the congested Rameshwar–Tangi stretch through Khordha, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, improving freight efficiency and lowering logistics costs.
  • Government estimates cite integration with three national highways and one state highway and project employment of about 74.43 lakh direct and 93.04 lakh indirect person‑days.
