India Clears 2030 Commonwealth Games Bid, Taps Ahmedabad as Ideal Host

A final dossier is due August 31 ahead of a November host vote in Glasgow.

Overview

  • India’s Union Cabinet approved signing the Host Collaboration Agreement, required government guarantees, and conditional grant-in-aid to Gujarat if the bid is accepted.

  • Other interested parties reportedly include Nigeria, Canada’s Alberta has withdrawn its bid, and participation is expected from 72 nations and territories.
