India Clears ₹1.05 Lakh Crore of Indigenous Defence Deals, Shares Jump

Overview

  • The Defence Acquisition Council approved ten capital-acquisition proposals valued at ₹1.05 lakh crore under the Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed Developed and Manufactured) category to boost domestic defence production.
  • New procurements encompass armoured recovery vehicles, advanced electronic warfare systems, an integrated tri-service inventory management platform and surface-to-air missiles.
  • Naval capabilities will be strengthened with super rapid gun mounts, moored mines, mine countermeasure vessels and submersible autonomous vessels.
  • Paras Defence and Space Technologies led market gains with an 8% surge while BEML, Hindustan Aeronautics, Bharat Electronics and Bharat Dynamics saw increases of 1%-2%.
  • These latest approvals build on a March clearance of eight proposals worth ₹54,000 crore, more than doubling the council’s approved defence spend for the year.
