Overview
- Delhi will bar vehicles in and around Connaught Place from 7 pm on Dec 31 with diversions near India Gate and limited, first-come parking at designated sites.
- Delhi Police have deployed nearly 3,000 personnel with more than 50 checkpoints, added patrols and targeted diversions around busy malls in Saket.
- Mumbai has stationed over 17,000 police citywide, while Metro Line 3 will run overnight for the first time with added BEST buses and special suburban trains.
- Tamil Nadu has banned firecrackers in Chennai, ordered flyover closures from 10 pm to 6 am, and planned a large deployment of about 90,000 police with 425 check posts.
- Other cities announced tailored steps, including 20,000 police in Bengaluru, 5,400 in Gurugram with operator-responsibility notices, Pune no-vehicle zones and heavy-vehicle curbs, and Chandigarh–Ludhiana nakas with drunk-driving checks.
