Overview
- National Security Adviser Ajit Doval led India at the third India–Central Asia NSAs/Secretaries of Security Councils meeting in Bishkek, according to an MEA readout.
- Participants agreed to work closely with Afghanistan on security cooperation, connectivity and economic development, with the talks shaped by recent Afghanistan–Pakistan clashes and a temporary ceasefire.
- The countries resolved to strengthen joint action against terrorism, radicalisation, extremism and narcotics trafficking while prioritising stronger India–Central Asia connectivity.
- The format will expand beyond traditional security to collaboration on digital connectivity, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies and space.
- Doval held bilateral meetings with security chiefs of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, called on Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov, and earlier reviewed counterterror and defence ties with Kyrgyz Secretary Lt. Gen. Baktybek Bekbolotov.
