India Celebrates 75 Years of Its Constitution with Nationwide Events and Tributes

November 26, 2024, marks the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution, a milestone celebrated across the country as Constitution Day or Samvidhan Divas.
President Droupadi Murmu highlighted the Constitution as a living document that ensures dignity, justice, and equality while reflecting on India's progress in social justice and inclusive development.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders paid tribute to the Constitution's framers, including Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and emphasized its role in uniting India's diverse society.
Proposals have been made to establish a Constitution Museum and Rights and Freedoms Academy to educate citizens about the Constitution's history and promote civic engagement.
Events included the unveiling of commemorative coins, stamps, and books, as well as reflections on the contributions of the 300-member Constituent Assembly, including 15 pioneering women.
