India Breaks Ground on AMCA Integration and Flight-Testing Complex in Andhra Pradesh

The ₹15,803 crore site will give the AMCA stealth fighter program a dedicated base for integration, flight testing, certification.

Overview

  • Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who laid the foundation in Puttaparthi on Friday, launched the AMCA infrastructure project valued at ₹15,803 crore.
  • The complex will cover about 650 acres in Sri Sathya Sai district and is projected to create roughly 7,500 jobs and a new township.
  • Built by the Aeronautical Development Agency under DRDO, the hub will assemble aircraft, validate avionics and stealth systems, and run flight trials before certification, a capability only a few countries have.
  • Alongside the AMCA hub, officials kicked off a Flight Testing Centre, a Naval Systems facility of Bharat Dynamics in Anakapalli, defence energetics and ammunition plants, and Drone City projects in Kurnool.
  • Singh detailed industry commitments including ₹480 crore by Bharat Dynamics for underwater systems, ₹1,500 crore by Agneyastra for advanced weapons, ₹1,294 crore by HFCL for fuzes, while the state set aside 400 acres for AMCA-linked suppliers expected to draw near ₹1 lakh crore in investment.
