Overview

  • Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed Parliament that more than 1,400 URLs were blocked on July 30 under Operation Sindoor
  • The removed content included false, misleading and anti-India narratives along with communally sensitive posts primarily from Pakistan-based accounts
  • Section 69A orders were invoked to safeguard India’s sovereignty, defence, state security and public order against online propaganda
  • A centralized control room operating around the clock coordinated real-time information sharing among the armed forces, government media units and the Press Information Bureau
  • The PIB’s Fact Check Unit tracked and debunked fake images, edited videos and misleading narratives, forwarding verified data to intermediaries for prompt action
