Overview

• Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot said the INDIA bloc will replicate Rajasthan’s Right to Health Act and Chiranjeevi scheme in Bihar if it comes to power, guaranteeing free tests, treatment and medicines for every family.
• The proposed Chiranjeevi model in Bihar would offer up to Rs25 lakh in free treatment at public and private hospitals, mirroring Rajasthan’s Rs10 lakh health and Rs5 lakh accident insurance coverage.
• Gehlot cited a recent CAG report showing that only 23,851 of 59,168 approved medical positions in Bihar were filled, leaving a 60% vacancy in doctor posts.
• He pointed out that Bihar spent just Rs21,743 crore of the Rs69,790 crore allocated to health between 2016 and 2022, highlighting chronic underutilization of funds.
