Overview

  • As of July 30, 2025, 48 passengers have been included on India’s no-fly list this year, contributing to a five-year total of 379.
  • The annual count rose from 10 bans in 2020 to a peak of 110 in 2023 before declining to 82 in 2024 and 48 through mid-2025.
  • DGCA’s Civil Aviation Requirements classify unruly conduct into three levels, imposing bans of up to three months for Level 1, six months for Level 2, and a minimum of two years for Level 3.
  • Banned individuals may file appeals within 60 days to a ministry-appointed committee led by a retired high court judge with participation from consumer and airline representatives.
  • IndiGo and SpiceJet have enforced their own flight suspensions following recent incidents of passenger assaults on a Mumbai-Kolkata route and at Srinagar International Airport.
