Overview
- Four days of DG-level talks in Dhaka ended on August 28 with a signed Joint Record of Discussions, led by BSF chief Daljit Singh Chaudhary and BGB chief Maj Gen Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui.
- Agreed steps include intensified patrols, real-time information sharing, joint awareness efforts and socio-economic initiatives, guidance to media against misleading coverage, and coordination to avoid airspace violations by sharing flight schedules.
- Both sides will follow set procedures for single-row fence construction, seek prior approval for any activity within 150 yards of the zero line, and facilitate Joint Rivers Commission–approved riverbank protection works.
- Disputes continued as BGB condemned border shootings of Bangladeshi nationals, BSF cited a graded response and injuries to its personnel, and each side raised concerns over pushbacks, repatriation delays, and undocumented entrants.
- BSF pressed issues including attacks on personnel, drone intrusions and early fence construction, while officials said the force plans about 5,000 body-worn cameras to better document frontier incidents.
