Overview
- The government has cleared six semiconductor manufacturing projects with a combined investment of Rs1.55 lakh crore, projected to create over 27,000 direct skilled jobs.
- The Rs76,000 crore Semicon India Programme under the India Semiconductor Mission is designed to establish end-to-end chip manufacturing and design capabilities in the country.
- Design Linked Incentive support has been granted to three companies in Telangana, with design infrastructure assistance extended to 11 firms in the state.
- Under the Chips to Startup scheme, 22 Telangana institutes received advanced design tools and six secured financial backing, while the programme has enrolled more than 45,000 students from 100 institutions nationwide.
- All project proposals are evaluated solely on technical and financial criteria by domain experts, ensuring a pan-India, merit-based approach to semiconductor expansion.
