• The Indian government has sanctioned the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) to establish its first overseas campus in Dubai, marking a major step in globalizing Indian higher education.
• The Dubai campus has received all necessary Indian regulatory approvals, including from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs, and the University Grants Commission.
• The campus will offer specialized programs such as MBA in International Business, MA in Economics (Trade and Finance), Executive Diplomas, and doctoral studies, catering to both the Indian diaspora and global students.
• Strict safeguards ensure no diversion of financial, faculty, or infrastructure resources from IIFT’s domestic campuses in Delhi, Kolkata, and Kakinada.
• IIFT is now securing final permissions from UAE authorities, with plans to begin operations soon as part of India’s broader educational and diplomatic engagement with the Gulf region.
