Overview

- The centres will be established primarily in district hospitals subject to available space and logistics, with additional sites in other government health facilities where states deem feasible.
- The Health Ministry’s allocation plan drew on an ICMR-led national gap analysis and was finalized by the National Programme Coordination Committee after state consultations.
- Uttar Pradesh leads with 75 approved centres, followed by Telangana with 33 and Maharashtra with 27 sites in high-burden districts.
- Unit costs for each centre may reach Rs 1.49 crore and will be funded through the NHM’s State Resource Envelopes pending final site readiness.
