Overview
- The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting cleared a 26% increase in Central Bureau of Communication print rates for government ads.
- For black-and-white ads in dailies with one lakh circulation, the per sq. cm rate rises from Rs 47.40 to Rs 59.68.
- The government accepted premium pricing for colour advertisements as well as preferential positioning to improve yield for publishers.
- This is the first formal revision since 2019, when rates were set based on the 8th Rate Structure Committee’s recommendations.
- The 9th Rate Structure Committee, formed in November 2021, consulted INS, AISNA and SMBNS, evaluated cost drivers such as newsprint inflation and processing expenses, and submitted its report on September 23, 2023.
