India Appoints 33 Members to GST Appellate Tribunal

With key roles at GSTAT filled, the tribunal prepares for appeal hearings after pending state nominations

Overview

  • The government appointed 33 technical and judicial members to GSTAT, covering a principal bench in New Delhi and 31 regional benches
  • Principal bench roles include Technical Member (State) A Venu Prasad, Technical Member (Centre) Anil Kumar Gupta and judicial member Mayank Kumar Jain
  • GSTAT, established under the Central GST Act, 2017, was set up to resolve GST disputes swiftly and ease higher court caseloads
