India and UAE Solidify Defence Cooperation in Secretary-Level JDCC Meeting

A MoU on coast guard cooperation in search, rescue and anti-piracy operations was signed ahead of the scheduled July 31 defence industry partnership forum.

Overview

  • The 13th India-UAE Joint Defence Cooperation Committee convened at secretary level for the first time in New Delhi, marking a milestone in their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership launched in 2015.
  • India offered customized military training programs to meet the UAE’s requirements and both sides committed to expanding service-to-service exchanges across army, navy and air forces.
  • They formalized a framework for real-time maritime security information sharing between the Indian Coast Guard and UAE National Guard, covering search and rescue, pollution response and anti-piracy operations.
  • Delegates pledged joint manufacturing initiatives for small arms based on the ICOMM-CARACAL model and discussed co-development of AI-driven and other next-generation defence technologies.
  • Participants will attend a defence industry partnership forum on July 31 and are coordinating India’s exhibit at the Dubai Air Show in November 2025.
