India and UAE Report Progress on Visa Easing, Consular Access, and Extradition Cooperation

  • According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, both sides recorded progress on liberalising visa procedures, improving information flow and consular access, and expediting extradition and mutual legal assistance.
  • The Indian delegation was led by Secretary Arun Kumar Chatterjee, with the UAE side headed by Undersecretary Omar Obaid AlHesan AlShamsi, following technical-level talks by officials.
  • The delegations agreed to set up a review mechanism to track implementation, with the next JCCA round to be hosted by India in 2026.
  • India thanked UAE authorities for support to its large expatriate community, and both governments reaffirmed commitments to the safety, dignity, and well-being of each other’s citizens.
