Overview

• The two-week exercise runs September 1–14 at the Joint Training Node in Umroi, Meghalaya.
• India has deployed 120 personnel from a Madras Regiment battalion, while Thailand has sent 53 from the 1st Infantry Battalion, 14th Infantry Brigade.
• Training focuses on company-level counter-terrorist operations in semi-urban terrain under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.
• Activities include tactical drills, joint planning, special-arms training, fitness routines and raiding operations, culminating in a 48-hour validation exercise.
• Instituted in 2006 and alternating between both countries, Maitree reinforces interoperability and signals a shared commitment to regional stability in the Indo-Pacific.
