Overview
- The 14th secretary-level Meeting on Border Management and Security took place on October 16–17 in Thimphu, Bhutan.
- The Indian delegation was led by Rajendra Kumar and the Bhutanese side by Sonam Wangyel, with India fielding officials from SSB, the Land Ports Authority, Department of Telecommunications, Narcotics Control Bureau, Survey of India, Customs, and representatives of Assam, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh.
- The agenda examined practical issues including mobile signal spillover, maintenance of boundary pillars, and cross-border movement.
- Participants discussed a roadmap for Integrated Check Posts to strengthen border management and facilitate movement.
- Both sides reported cordial, constructive talks and pledged to work together for a safe, secure and prosperous border region while reaffirming plans to deepen cooperation.
