Overview
- The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy reported on Wednesday that 9.09 lakh households in 19,035 housing societies have received ₹422 crore in central subsidy for community rooftop projects, accounting for more than 278 MW installed by RWAs.
- Uttar Pradesh has installed rooftop systems on 8,24,492 homes totaling 2,769.59 MW, a capacity the state says will save about ₹2,956 crore a year, cut roughly 36.6 lakh tonnes of CO2 annually, and support over 85,000 direct jobs.
- Madhya Pradesh West Discom said its Malwa-Nimar area has passed 90,000 rooftop installs with an expectation to cross 100,000 by mid-October and reported over ₹505 crore paid to 66,000-plus consumers via direct benefit transfer.
- Under PM Surya Ghar eligible RWA/GHS projects receive central financial assistance of ₹18,000 per kW with ₹19,800 per kW for special-category states, using a benchmark of 3 kWp per household and a project cap reported at 500 kWp to keep costs manageable.
- Households and housing societies report large cuts in common-area bills and faster paybacks, and with the scheme window open until March 31, 2027 consumers must complete applications, installation, net metering and DBT steps soon to secure subsidies.
