Overview
- The Rs. 2,539.61 crore BIND scheme for 2021–26 is driving digitalization and technology upgrades at Akashvani and Doordarshan Kendras across all states.
- State-level Kendras are receiving modern studio equipment, transmitter enhancements and integrated digital workflows to replace outdated systems.
- Since April 2025, DD Free Dish has onboarded three new South Indian private channels — TV9 Telugu, Aastha Kannada and Aastha Telugu — through reserved slots in recent e-auctions.
- Doordarshan’s regional channels, including DD Tamil, DD Saptagiri, DD Chandana, DD Yadagiri and DD Malayalam, have been added to the platform and are undergoing technological upgrades and promotion.
- Simplified eligibility criteria and reserved regional slots have spurred private broadcaster participation, helping DD Free Dish reach around 49 million households nationwide.
