Independent Games Festival 2025 Nominations Highlight Innovation and Diversity in Indie Gaming

Consume Me and Despelote lead the pack with multiple nominations, with winners to be announced at GDC in March.

The 27th Annual Independent Games Festival (IGF) will announce winners during the Game Developers Conference (GDC) from March 17-21 in San Francisco.
Consume Me, a personal exploration of disordered eating, leads the nominations with five, including the Seumas McNally Grand Prize and Excellence in Design.
Despelote, a coming-of-age narrative set in Ecuador centered around soccer, follows with four nominations across major categories such as Narrative and Audio.
Other Grand Prize contenders include Caves of Qud, Indika, Thank Goodness You’re Here, and UFO 50, showcasing a wide range of styles and genres.
Despite winning major accolades last year, Balatro surprisingly missed a Grand Prize nomination but is recognized in the Excellence in Design category.
