Independent Candidate Arrested for Alleged Assault on BJP Leader’s Son During Maharashtra Elections

Ankush Kadam of the Maharashtra Swarajya Party faces attempted murder charges after a violent altercation at a polling booth in Navi Mumbai.

Ankush Kadam, an independent candidate from the Airoli constituency, was arrested alongside a party worker for allegedly assaulting the son of a former BJP corporator during the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
The incident occurred at a polling booth in Koparkhairane, where Kadam and approximately 30 supporters reportedly caused a disturbance, leading to a violent attack on Jayesh More, the victim.
Jayesh More sustained severe injuries, including trauma to his head, eyes, and back, and is currently receiving treatment in the ICU.
Police have charged Kadam and others involved under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Maharashtra Police Act, citing violations of the model code of conduct and attempted murder.
Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to identify additional suspects and determine the full extent of involvement in the incident.
