Incoming Clipper System to Bring Wintry Mix to Parts of U.S. on New Year's Eve

Despite the expected snowfall in some regions, few weather-related disruptions are anticipated as the country rings in 2024.

An incoming clipper system from Canada is expected to bring a light wintry mix to parts of the Ohio Valley, Central Appalachians, and Mid-Atlantic, with some accumulating snowfall expected mainly in the higher terrain of the Central Appalachians.
Winter weather advisories have been issued for states including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Alaska.
Much of the rest of the country will remain dry, with above-normal temperatures, through the holiday.
Two separate storm systems will begin to affect the U.S. later Tuesday, bringing heavy rain across California and thunderstorms in the western Gulf Coast region and Lower Mississippi Valley.
Despite the weather disruptions, few weather-related disruptions are expected for much of the country on New Year's Eve.
