Income Tax Department Selects LTIMindtree for ₹792 Crore PAN 2.0 Overhaul

Under a ₹792 crore contract, LTIMindtree will build a digital-first PAN/TAN platform housing over 81 crore PANs alongside 73 lakh TANs with a launch scheduled within 18 months.

Overview

  • LTIMindtree will serve as Managed Service Provider for the design, development, implementation, operations and maintenance of the PAN 2.0 system.
  • PAN 2.0 will unify services currently spread across the e-Filing, UTIITSL and Protean e-Gov portals into a single digital platform for all PAN and TAN processing.
  • The system will offer free online PAN allotment, updates, Aadhaar linking and grievance redressal with e-PANs delivered directly to users’ email addresses.
  • Data security will be strengthened through enhanced QR codes and a dedicated PAN data vault to protect taxpayer information.
  • The platform is slated to go live within 18 months and will allow existing PAN holders to retain their numbers without reapplying.
