INBAL Names 2025 National Arts and Literature Laureates, Including Two From Yucatán

Regional celebrations will spotlight the Yucatecan honorees through early January events in Mérida.

  • Painter Irma Palacios Flores won in Fine Arts for a sustained abstract practice, while Catalina Yolanda López Márquez was honored in Folk Arts and Traditions for preserving Oaxacan techniques such as the grana cochinilla.
  • Ruz Sosa is scheduled to address Mérida’s solemn Cabildo session on January 6 and to take part in the “100 joyas del arte sacro de la Península de Yucatán” presentation on January 8.
