Overview
- This week authorities and news outlets clarified that INAPAM does not pay a year-end bonus and that any aguinaldo must come from an employer after a formal hiring process.
- The Ley Federal del Trabajo guarantees a minimum aguinaldo of 15 days' salary payable before December 20 for workers with a formal contract and a proportional amount for shorter service.
- The INAPAM card remains free and is required to enter the Vinculación Productiva placement program; applicants must be 60 or older and present ID, CURP, proof of address, photos, and an emergency contact at local Bienestar modules.
- Seniors hired through Vinculación Productiva who sign formal contracts gain labor rights such as social security, vacation pay and prima vacacional in addition to the aguinaldo.
- Separately, retailers and bus companies offer INAPAM discounts — for example 5% at Suburbia and up to 50% on several bus lines — but those offers are private, require the card plus ID and are often limited by seat caps or store rules.
