IN-SPACe Selects Pixxel-Led Consortium for India’s First Private EO Constellation

Forgoing a ₹350 crore grant for technical support, PixxelSpace India with its partners begins a three-to-five-year programme to deploy 12 multi-sensor satellites.

Overview

  • The consortium—PixxelSpace India, PierSight, SatSure/KaleidEO and Dhruva Space—quoted a zero financial bid and will invest over ₹1,200 crore to fund the project.
  • Under the EO-PPP framework, the government will provide strategic guidance, technical reviews and demand-generation support but no direct funding.
  • The 12-satellite fleet will integrate panchromatic, multispectral, hyperspectral and SAR payloads to deliver all-weather, high-resolution analysis-ready data.
  • IN-SPACe has mandated the establishment of control stations in India and requires additional global ground nodes for continuous data acquisition.
  • Payload integration, domestic manufacturing and launches from Indian vehicles are the next steps in a phased rollout scheduled over the next three to five years.
