IMSS to Break Ground in March on Major Specialty Hospital in Morelia’s Villas del Pedregal

The project forms part of the Plan Michoacán por la Paz y la Justicia with funding above 4 billion pesos.

Overview

  • Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla and IMSS director Zoé Robledo announced the timeline and swore in a Citizen Committee to oversee construction.
  • The facility will sit on six hectares, exceed the size of the Regional Hospital of Charo, and include 260 census beds.
  • Officials project roughly 2,500 jobs during operation and emphasize local access to care that reduces transfers to Ciudad Salud.
  • Planned capabilities include nine operating rooms, 54 specialties, endoscopy suites, chemotherapy chairs, 33 dialysis machines, CT, MRI, radiotherapy, hemodynamics, and ICUs for adults, pediatric and neonatal patients.
  • The hospital is one of 41 health and social actions in the plan, alongside upgrades in Coplamar, Uruapan and Lázaro Cárdenas, 10 CECI centers, and a new hospital for Zamora.
