IMSS Reports Record October Job Surge as Platform Pilot Swells Rolls

New platform registrations drove the surge, leaving 2025 behind last year's hiring pace.

Overview

  • IMSS counted 22,789,173 registered jobs at October’s close, or 24,029,752 total affiliations when including people added under the digital platforms reform.
  • October posted a net gain of 217,491 positions, the largest single‑month increase in the dataset.
  • In the fourth month of the platforms pilot, 1,114,147 people were affiliated and 150,123 exceeded the income threshold to be logged as full IMSS jobs, with others retaining work‑risk coverage.
  • Job creation from January to October reached 550,794 (+2.5% year to date), below the 594,556 positions added in the same period of 2024.
  • Analysts warn the pilot’s counting rules may inflate headline totals and complicate comparisons, even as the average base salary rose to 622 pesos per day and gains concentrated in transport, commerce and in the State of Mexico, Mexico City and Hidalgo.
