IMSS Reports 65% of 2025 Surgery Goal Reached as Night Clinics Expand in Quintana Roo

Extra shifts boost throughput toward year-end goals.

  • IMSS says it has completed 1,305,431 scheduled surgeries this year (65% of the 2 million target), delivered 22.6 million specialty consultations (73%) and 81.6 million family-medicine consultations (about 81%).
  • The institute reports 97% of operating rooms running at optimal levels, with specialty consult rooms at 102% and family-medicine at 106% utilization due to added shifts and weekend hours.
  • Night-time family-medicine consultations operate roughly 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. in Quintana Roo, surpassing 6,300 visits, with recent openings at UMF 13 Cancún Norte, UMF 14 Cancún Sur and UMF 19 Los Héroes de la Salud.
  • IMSS-Bienestar began incorporating 1,330 specialists and about 2,267 nurses on October 1 across five regions, benefiting more than 486 hospitals and adding key fields such as anesthesiology, surgery, gynecology and emergency medicine.
  • IMSS-Bienestar presented the Hospital Oncológico para la Mujer ‘La Pastora’ in Mexico City as a free breast-cancer center with an investment above 300 million pesos and equipment including two mastographs, a CT scanner and robotic pathology, slated to start operations later this year.
