IMSS Opens Public Call for 2,500 Medical Specialists

A staged online drive to fill hard-to-staff hospital posts aims to speed patient care under a 120-day plan that concludes Feb. 24, 2027.

Overview

  • The IMSS launched a formal public convocation and activated the portal medicos-especialistas.imss.gob.mx, with the site opening for account creation on Tuesday, Nov. 3 and phased registration set for Bolsa de Trabajo members on Nov. 18-19 and for external specialists on Nov. 20-21.
  • The drive targets 2,500 specialist vacancies focused on hard-to-fill posts in areas such as internal medicine, emergency care and radiology while also offering roles in anesthesiology, general surgery, gynecology-obstetrics, cardiology, imaging and urology.
  • Applications and document submission are fully digital; applicants must create an account on the portal and upload specialty-specific credentials such as specialist degree and cédula, proof of experience, valid ID, proof of address and an updated CV.
  • The announcement does not set a single salary for the hires because pay will vary by plaza category, location and contract terms, so candidates must review each vacancy’s compensation in the official convocation.
  • The hiring is one element of the IMSS '12 acciones en 120 días' package that pairs staff additions with equipment, infrastructure and work-condition measures and is meant to reduce coverage gaps and speed care in second- and third-level hospitals by the Feb. 24, 2027 deadline.
