IMSS and FINABIEN Open U.S. Path for Migrants to Enroll in Mexico’s Social Security

Officials highlight a lower‑cost FINABIEN route for PTI contributions with a $2.99 transfer fee plus a 50‑peso payment charge.

Overview

  • The alliance has been operational since September 10, allowing registration through FINABIEN for Mexicans residing and working in the United States.
  • Applicants obtain a FINABIEN Paisan@ kit at Mexican consulates without an appointment, receiving one card for U.S. use and another for Mexico.
  • Enrollment uses the FINABIEN app to register both cards and move funds via an autoremesa from the U.S. card to the Mexico card before paying IMSS contributions.
  • IMSS reports 15,375 affiliates to date under this and other incorporation mechanisms, reflecting early uptake of the new channel.
  • Affiliates access the full IMSS benefit package, with registration completed on the IMSS microsite using CURP, Social Security Number (NSS) and an email, and payments can be scheduled monthly, bimonthly, semiannually or annually.
