Imran Khan Files Letter to Pakistan’s Chief Justice Alleging Judicial Bias and Rights Abuses

The move challenges what he calls the weaponisation of courts under the 26th Amendment.

Overview

  • The three-page letter, dated September 16, was delivered by PTI representatives and formally filed at the Supreme Court registrar’s office on September 17–18.
  • Khan accuses Islamabad High Court leadership of stalling his Al-Qadir Trust and Toshakhana petitions and asks the chief justice to have key cases fixed for hearing.
  • He alleges more than 300 politically motivated cases, prolonged solitary confinement in a 9x11 cell, cancelled meetings with lawyers and family, and a ban on phone calls to his sons.
  • He says his wife, Bushra Bibi, is kept in isolation without proper medical access despite bail concessions for women under law, claims the 2024 mandate was stolen, and cites a yet-to-be-released Commonwealth report.
  • Separately, the Islamabad High Court scheduled September 25 hearings on sentence-suspension pleas in the £190m case, and PTI relayed his call for nationwide protests on September 27.
