IMPSA Reactor Convoy Reaches Boedo as Delivery Faces Delays

Pending roadway permits are expected to push the transporter’s arrival at YPF’s Luján de Cuyo refinery beyond this weekend.

Overview

  • The megaoperativo began at 5:10 a.m. on August 15 with the 456-tonne HG-D-3501 reactor departing IMPSA’s Godoy Cruz plant under escort from Policía Vial, Gendarmería Nacional and municipal transit crews.
  • By early afternoon the convoy had reached its scheduled first stop at Boedo and Acceso Sur, pausing for technical checks and clearance.
  • Authorities implemented staged closures and detours on RN 40, RN 7 and RP 84, temporarily suspended Metrotranvía service overnight and mobilised cranes and utility teams to lift road gantries and cables.
  • Transport is managed by Transapelt using modular hydraulic platforms across 26 axle lines, supported by multiple push-pull trucks and specialised heavy-lift equipment.
  • IMPSA logistics head Héctor Pepi warned that outstanding Vialidad permits and on-route contingencies make completion by Sunday unlikely, with operations likely extending into early next week.
