- Madhur Bhandarkar lodged a formal complaint with IMPPA alleging unauthorised use of his registered title for a proposed sequel billed as Chandni Bar Returns.
- In a letter to producer Sandeep Singh’s team, IMPPA said 'Chandni Bar' is registered to M/s Bhandarkar Entertainment and advised them to cease using the title immediately.
- Legend Studios responded that it has secured option rights from the original producers and cited a trademark record naming Lata Mohan Iyer as proprietor, according to its statement.
- The studio said its lawyers are replying to trade bodies and said the reimagined sequel is slated for a December 3, 2026 worldwide release.
