Overview
- IMDb announced Wednesday that it has added “Digital Creator” as a new professional category on both IMDb and IMDbPro.
- The category includes sub-professions such as Streamer, Vlogger, Video Essayist, Video Creator, Gaming Creator and Influencer to let creators specify the kind of work they do.
- Profiles can list multiple professions so someone who is both a creator and an actor can represent all of their work, and no prior film or TV credits are required to create a Digital Creator page.
- The Digital Creator option is being made available to IMDbPro members and will be publicly introduced at an invite-only TIFF industry event on Sept. 14 where IMDb will spotlight collaboration with Canadian guilds.
- IMDb says the change aims to bridge online creators with traditional industry gatekeepers and brand partners, which could lower barriers for creators to land casting, production or sponsorship opportunities and reshape how talent is discovered.
