Overview
- IMD says heavy to very heavy rain will persist over northwest India through August 26, with Gujarat and Rajasthan likely to see continued spells into late August as extremely heavy 24-hour totals were logged in Punjab and Haryana.
- Mumbai and parts of the Konkan are on a yellow alert through Wednesday, with Thane and Raigad included and Ratnagiri–Sindhudurg under watch till August 29, after a short-lived orange nowcast for the city was withdrawn.
- Delhi-NCR is under a yellow alert for light to moderate rain and thunderstorms, and IndiGo, Air India and SpiceJet warned passengers of possible delays as showers and waterlogging slow traffic.
- Jammu division ordered all schools shut on August 26 and imposed a nightly vehicle ban on the Reasi–Arnas–Mahore corridor, as officials warned of cloudbursts, flash floods and landslides; four people were rescued from the Ravi in Kathua, a road bridge at Logate Morh was damaged and Northern Railways shored up the Chakki Bank bridge with concrete sleepers.
- Himachal Pradesh reported widespread damage with about 795 roads including two national highways closed and hundreds of power and water schemes disrupted, as red alerts were issued locally for intense rain and NDRF teams conducted rescues.
