Overview
- The Regional Meteorological Centre in Mumbai placed 11 districts in North Maharashtra and Marathwada under a yellow cold-wave alert for the next 24–48 hours.
- Pune logged its season-low minimum at 10.6°C with Pashan at 10.1°C, and daytime highs fell below normal in parts of the city.
- Unusually low minima were also noted in the state, including Haveli at 8.6°C, Malin at 9.9°C, and Nagpur at 9.6°C on November 16.
- Mumbai’s Santacruz observatory recorded 17.8°C, 3.8°C below normal, as IMD cited northerly and northwesterly winds; the citywide AQI reached 159 with BKC at 323.
- IMD expects the chill to persist in isolated pockets for a few days before temperatures normalize, and advises precautions for health, agriculture, livestock and safe heater use.
