IMD Issues Yellow and Orange Alerts for Delhi as Light Rain Begins

An upper-air circulation is funnelling moisture into Delhi, raising the risk of localized downpours.

  • Parts of the capital saw drizzle under cloudy skies as the Met office warned of rain with thunder and strong winds across several districts.
  • District-wise advisories placed east, southeast and south Delhi under an orange alert for heavy rainfall, with yellow alerts elsewhere in the city.
  • IMD said rain is likely over East Delhi, Shahdara, Central, North, South and West Delhi in the next hours.
  • The city recorded a minimum temperature of 25.6°C, with the maximum expected to be around 35°C.
  • Air quality remained in the moderate category with AQI readings near 107 and recent values reported up to 121, and the IMD forecast heavy rain for sub-Himalayan West Bengal through September 19.
