Overview
- Orange alerts for dense fog are in effect for Punjab, Haryana, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, with an orange alert for persistent cold day conditions in parts of Bihar.
- The IMD expects dense to very dense fog during late night and morning hours across several northern states through December 28–29, affecting visibility for transport.
- Delhi reported severe visibility drops that disrupted flights and road traffic, and the CPCB put the city’s overall AQI at 336 in the very poor category.
- Himachal Pradesh’s Met office issued an orange warning for dense to very dense fog around the Bhakra dam area in Bilaspur until December 28 and forecast light rain and snow in isolated areas on December 28 and 30.
- Rain is forecast over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit Baltistan and Muzaffarabad from December 27–29, with similar conditions for Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on December 28–29, and isolated thunderstorms likely over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on December 26–27.
