Overview
- IMD forecasts the most intense rainfall on October 11, with light to moderate showers and isolated heavy spells continuing across Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Kerala and Mahe through October 13.
- Kerala upgraded some districts to orange alert on October 11, covering Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod, while yellow alerts are in place for Pathanamthitta, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad.
- Yellow-alert Kerala districts are forecast to receive about 64.5–115.5 mm of rain in 24 hours, with thunderstorms and lightning possible through October 13.
- Strong surface winds of around 30–40 kmph are expected in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on October 11, and Odisha may see thunderstorms with gusty winds on October 11–12.
- IMD says conditions are becoming favourable for the southwest monsoon to withdraw from more areas of central and northern India over the next 2–3 days, including remaining parts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, and all of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
