Overview

  • The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall warnings for Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura, with light to moderate rain expected over the next four to five days.
  • Heavy rainfall is also forecast for Gangetic West Bengal on April 28, Jharkhand on April 29 and May 1, Odisha through May 1, and Kerala until April 30.
  • Southern states, including Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu, are under advisories for scattered thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds up to 50 km/h through May 4.
  • Delhi is under a yellow alert for April 29 with predicted light rain, thunderstorms, and a maximum temperature of 42°C; further relief is expected from a western disturbance bringing rain and cooler conditions on May 2–3.
  • Delhi’s air quality remains in the ‘poor’ category, with an AQI of 251 recorded on April 28, highlighting ongoing pollution risks alongside weather challenges.
