Overview

• IMD has detected a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal that is likely to strengthen from October 21.
• Heavy rain of 7–11 cm is very likely at isolated locations in the Nicobar Islands, with adverse weather expected through October 23.
• Thunderstorms with gusty winds of 40–50 kmph and lightning are forecast at one or two places on October 21–23, with similar conditions possible on October 24–25.
• Squally weather over the Andaman Sea is likely on October 22–23, with surface winds of 35–45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph and rough seas expected for five days.
• Fishermen have been advised to stay off waters along and off the Andaman and Nicobar coast until October 24, and residents and tourists are urged to avoid recreational sea activity and follow safety guidance.
