Overview

• The meteorological department says a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal is likely to strengthen from September 24.
• Forecasts call for heavy rain of 7–11 cm and thunderstorms with gusts of 40–50 kmph from September 24–26, with storms possible through September 27–28.
• Squally conditions with surface winds of 35–45 kmph, gusting to 55 kmph, are expected over the Andaman Sea and along the islands’ coast, and local port warnings have been issued.
