Overview
- Minimum temperatures in northwest India are projected to fall another 2–3°C over the next few days, with cold to severe cold wave conditions likely in isolated pockets from Haryana and Delhi to Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Jharkhand and Odisha.
- Delhi’s Safdarjung station logged 10.4°C, four degrees below normal and the season’s lowest so far, with isolated cold-wave conditions expected through Wednesday though a citywide declaration has not been issued.
- Madhya Pradesh expanded its alert to 23 districts for the next four days, as several cities fell below 10°C and authorities warned of an early and more intense start to winter.
- Across Maharashtra, Pune recorded 13.4–13.5°C while Jalgaon dipped to 9.2°C and Dhule hit 8.6°C earlier, with the IMD expecting further drops under prevailing dry conditions.
- The IMD reported widespread minimums in the 7–10°C range from the western Himalayas to the plains and urged precautions for cold-related illness along with evening, light irrigation to protect standing crops.
