  • Fresh IMD advisories forecast thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds for Delhi-NCR and multiple states, with orange warnings spanning J&K, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and parts of the Northeast.
  • Jammu Doppler radar early Wednesday detected very deep convection with cloud tops near 12 km and intense cells producing heavy rain, thunderstorms and possible hail across Jammu district and adjoining areas.
  • In Chhattisgarh’s Bastar division, torrential rain has produced flood-like conditions, washing out roads and bridges and moving residents in badly hit districts such as Bastar, Sukma, Dantewada and Bijapur to relief camps.
  • Delhi saw a short red-alert window on Tuesday afternoon after morning showers, with a Dwarka roof collapse injuring two people who were treated and discharged, and forecasters keeping the city on an active monsoon watch for several days.
  • Context from IMD data shows an exceptional season in the north, with rainfall about 21% above normal and 21 extremely heavy rain events logged in August so far, while Delhi’s August total has reached 323 mm and air quality improved to an AQI of 55.
