Overview
- The India Meteorological Department expects a low-pressure area to form over the South Andaman Sea and southeast Bay of Bengal around November 22–23, moving west-northwest.
- The system is forecast to intensify into a depression around November 24 and a deep depression within about 48 hours, with any cyclonic storm to be named Senyar.
- IMD has issued yellow alerts and district advisories for light to very heavy rain and thunderstorms across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema through November 26.
- The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are likely to see very heavy rainfall until November 22, followed by strong winds up to 50 kmph until November 24.
- Squally conditions with winds of 40–50 kmph and gusts to 60 kmph are likely along and off the Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar and Comorin area on November 24, and fishermen are advised to avoid these waters.
